Generally parents should give the first support to their children’s participation in physical activities as they have important influence on activity levels of their children. Following activities can be taken by parents:

1. Can exhibit a model active behaviour by following an active lifestyle by limiting their own sedentary behaviours.

2. Can support their children to live an active life daily in as many ways as they can by involving them in sports and games, fun making, outdoor activities and everyday tasks including transport (walking and cycling)

3. Can coact with their children in walking, playing and cycling.

4. Can encourage children to walk down or cycling to their schools.

5. Must be very careful and find out active alternatives when their children say “I am bored”.

6. Can exchange views and educate children by discussing about the adverse effects of sedentary activities like watching televisions, videos and computer games etc.

7. Can incorporate physical activities into family outings if possible.
