The health standards are efficiently administered and maintained only when adequate knowledge and information about personal and environmental hygiene and sanitation; awareness of various diseases and their remedial treatment, at least at the first aid level; available utilisation of resources, facilities and technical information at various primary health centers upward; is disseminated by means of a mass health education programme.

These programmes are launched to create general awareness of health and nourishment of the population at different levels and stages of the development of individual and other contingencies, by means of health education.

Health, therefore, is the primary task of any government so as to harness the optimal human resources development of its masses. Health education is central to the overall progresses and development of a country and should be accorded necessary and suitable priority at all levels.

It is all the more important during the period of growth and development of a child. Healthy child, healthy Nation.
