Short Notes on Geographical Boundaries of India

Northern boundary, of India is 15200 kilometres long. It starts from the southernmost tip of the Runn of Kutch. This boundary passes along the Himalayas and Myanmar borders and ends at the head of Bay of Bengal. From West of East Pakistan,

Afghanistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar and Bangladesh form the territorial borders of the country. Border line between China and India is named as Mac Mohan Line. The coast line of India is 7000 kilometres long, including the coast line of Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

India’s North-South length is 3200 kilometres while her East-West breadth is 3000 kilometres. Her total geographical area is 32.88 lakh square kilometres. This constitutes 2.4% of the surface area of the world. India ranks seventh in area after Russia, Canada, China, USA, Brazil and Australia.
