My home is a place of complete peace and harmony. Among all the family members in my home there is such absolute understanding that, I have never had an occasion to wish for better or for more, i.e. I am so very happy and satisfied in my home.

My home houses a wonderful family which includes my grandparents, my parents, my elder sister Neena and my little brother Tony. We together four elders and three children i.e. people of three generations bound together in one thread with love and care for each other.

The grandparents, i.e. Daddy’s parents are the pillars of the family. They are all the time advising my parents in all matters of importance for the family, and in turn, my parents also listen to them most of the time. Sometimes, when my parents contradict my grandparents, they do not seem to at all mind it so.

This shows how so very broad minded my elders are. All the four elders discuss matters with open minds and accept the views of the others happily. I think it is this attitude of all the four that makes them all so pleasant to deal with. I just love my grandparents and am so very proud of their being so open to views and changes.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

This I think is a rare quality among elders, and this is what makes life easy for all. The other thing that impresses me about them is their great care for Daddy and Mummy and the three of us. They remember the birthdays of all the five of us, and give us gifts. On every festival, it is they who perform and all of us enjoy, which in turn gives us all the feel of being loved and cared for.

At the same time, it is not unusual for them to scold us when we do something wrong or bad. I remember how they both got angry on my sister Neena one day, when she got ready to go to a party in her shorts. They explained to her that shorts is a good dress but, it is meant to be worn only for playing games, and it does not suit as a party dress.

Moreover, they told her that, she would be coming late from the party and this would not be the correct dress to wear. It was so nicely explained to her that, the dress is good but, not meant to be worn in a party. After some time in arguing Neena accepted their advice and realised that all others would really be in party dresses or even sarees, and gave up the idea of the shorts.

Taking advantage of the occasion, my grandmother gave Neena a beautiful saree to wear, a silk saree which Neena had for long desired to wear. So in this quiet and subtle way, the battle was won without a casualty. Neena went happily to the party, and my grandparents were also happy due to the obedience showed to them.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

This was just one such occasion. In a family such occasions come very often, and, since we have an understanding of each other, each time the battles are won and laurels earned.

This is my home, an example of perfect harmony and understanding, love and care for each member from every other. Such a home is succour to pained nerves, and, I think it must have been such a home in mind when a great man wrote, “Home sweet home, and there is no place like home.”
