Children are the most vulnerable section of our society. They need special care and protection if the future of the nation is to be made secure, child development and welfare is in the priorities of social development.

Children being the asset of the nation should be grown up to become robust, physically fit, mentally alert and morally healthy citizens.

I. The child’s right of free expression and freedom of association and peaceful assembly.

II. For the protection and development of children, the constitution of India has made the following provisions.

III. No child below the age of 14 years shall be employed to work in any factory or in any hazardous employment.

IV. Childhood and youth are to be protected against exploitation and against moral and material abandonment.

The state shall endeavour to provide free elementary education to all children till they complete the age of 14 years from the commencement of the constitution within period of 10 years.
