Uttara Mimamsa is based on the teaching of the Upnisliads, which being found at the end of the Vedas, the philosophy is also called Vedanta or the end of the Vedas. This is the predominant school of Hindu Philosophy at present.

The original work on this system is the Vedanta Sutras of Baaarayana belonging of the 4th century A.D.

While Badarayana is believed to be the originator of the philosophy, the compilation of the Sutras or rather their arrangement is attributed to Vyasa, the reputed author of the Mahabharata and the Puranas.
