Taxonomy of Educational Objectives

Dr. B.S. Bloom has classified the changes of behaviour in three categories or Domains:

1. Psychomotor Domain:

Psychomotor domain involves cognition and motor activity as well affective components involving the willingness to act. The categories of psychomotor domain are as follows:

a. Complex overt response:

At this level, leaner performs a motor act requiring a complex movement pattern. A high degree of skill is achieved and the performance of the act is done by smoothly and efficiently.

b. Mental Set:

It involves readiness to perform a certain motor act.

c. Set:

This is preparatory adjustment or readiness for a particular kind of action experienced.

d. Perception:

This is the first step in performing a motor act. It involves the process of becoming aware of objects, qualities or relations by way of the sense organs.
