It would be appropriate to call this category of research as a product of developmental programming which has been adopted on a very large scale in the recent years, more particularly after Second World War when most of the developing countries emerged on the development scene.
This type of research is primarily directed to evaluate the performance of the developmental projects and other economic programmes that have already been implemented, the objective being to realistically assess the impact of any such programmes.
