Problems of Examination Reforms

Although, there have been suggestions and attempts to reform examination system, there are still some problems which need to be overcome for bringing about total reformation in the system. Some of these problems are:

1. Inadequate training of teachers for keeping up with the changed situation.

2. Paucity of financial support, as the reform measures in examination will necessarily be more expensive than the traditional ones.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

3. Lack of suitable sample evaluation material for providing illustrations of the nature of the reform envisaged.

4. Inherent resistance to change:

a. By vested interests, which are desirous of maintaining the status quo which protects their powerful positions and even financial gain?

b. By unscrupulous elements, as malpractices are likely to become valid and reliable and would require more precise and regular study.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

c. By the teachers, because of their unpreparedness for taking up the challenges of the new systems and because it require some additional work.

d. By the state Departments of Education and Boards of Secondary Education, as it involves a recognition of the administrative machinery and procedures.
