Elements of commerce are basically a subject of the nature of survey course and in it we can divide the course content into specific units of instructions. In it we do not have any sequential arrangement for various units and various units are arranged according to logical sequence of study plan. By teaching elements of commerce we aim at the development of following competencies:

(i) To provide to students a comprehensive picture of business in its economic setting

(ii) An understanding of the relationship of business services and functions as they affect the individual directly as a consumer as well as a producer.

By presenting the units in a logical sequence it is hoped that it will be more advantageous for the students to comprehend the con­cept. It should be kept in mind that each unit is built upon the skills and knowledges developed in the preceding units.
