A series of actions take place in the process of communication. These involve various types of expressions, interpretations and responses. Thus, the task of communication is a crucial one.
Success at this task requires thorough understanding of the principles and elements of communication and high level skill in their use on the part of all communicators especially working for the development programs.
According to Paul Leagans: “Successful communication requires a skillful communicator sending useful message, through proper channels, effectively treated, to an appropriate audience, that responds as desired.”
These six elements have to be handled skillfully for successful communication. They are related to each other as discussed in the following discussion (1961:9).
