Lydgate’s most popular work is the short and lively London Lack penny which describes the misery of a poor rustic who visits London in quest of Justice.

Unfortunately, recent research has thrown doubts on Ledge’s authorship of this interesting work. His other works, Troyes Book, The Story of Thebes, The Fall of Princes, The Temple of Glass, are merely servile imitation of Chaucer and repetitions of themes already used by the earlier poet.
