Four Reasons for the Steady Migration of People from Rural to Urban Areas
A large number of people in India is migrating from villages to urban areas. The following reasons account for the same:
(i) In rural areas, there are hardly any employment opportunities for the educated youth; chances of employment are negligible even for the illiterate persons. Hence, the people of villages are migrating to the cities in search of employment.
(ii) Due to relatively less progress of agriculture and increase in population, the means of livelihood are not up to the mark for the people living there.
(iii) Urban areas attract village people due to the facilities of modern life, better employment opportunities etc. there. So the people are migrating to the urban areas.
