Classify industries on the basis of bulk and weight of raw materials and finished goods

Industries are classified on the basis of the weight of raw materials and finished goods in the following manner:

(i) Heavy Industries:

These industries use heavy raw materials and also produce heavy goods, e.g., iron and steel, cement, ship-building, automobiles, etc.

(ii) Light Industries:

These industries use light raw materials and produce light goods such as electrical industries, e.g., watches, electric bulbs, paint brushes, etc.
