Palisade parenchyma

1. Present in dorsiventral leaves.

2. Columnar cells without intercellular spaces, compactly arranged.

3. Contain more amount of chloroplasts.

5. Present below the upper epidermis.

Spongy parenchyma

1. Present in both dorsiventral and isobilateral leaves.

2. Rounded cells with intercellular spaces, loosely arranged.

3. Contain less amount of chloroplast.

4. Possess respiratory cavity and open to outside through stomata.

5. Present below the palisade layer in dorsiventral leaf and between both the epidermis is isobilateral leaf.
