LPG is considered an ideal fuel because of the following reasons:
(i) LPG burns with a blue smokeless flame, and leaves no ash behind. So, it does not cause any pollution. Therefore, LPG is a clean fuel.
(ii) LPG has a high calorific value as compared to other common fuels. The calorific value of LPG is 50kj g-1, i.e., when 1 g of LPG is burnt, heat equivalent to 50kj energy is obtained. The cost person unit heat energy shows that LPG is cheaper than most of commonly used domestic fuels.
(iii) LPG is easy to handle and can be ignited almost instantaneously.
