What are the responsibilities of a supervisor towards his subordinates?

Direct and immediate guidance and control of subordinates is performance of their tasks is called supervision. The person who undertakes supervision work is called a supervisor. The responsibilities of a supervisor towards subordinates are:

(a) He will listen complaints, problems and suggestions of the workers and help them in discharging their duties.

(b) He will act as a friend, philosopher and guide of the workers.

(c) He will represent the workers problems before the management.

(d) He will inform workers regarding the ideas, thoughts and plans of management.

(e) He will instill a sense of confidence and mutual trust.

(f) He will try to inspire subordinates and develop a sense of teamwork.
