Communication is an important function of management. It means to convey some idea or thought by one person to another. It is regarded as the lifeblood of the enterprises because it establishes supervisor-subordinate relationship. There are broadly two types of communications called internal and external communication. When communication is effected between the persons in the same organisation it is called, internal communication.

The internal communication is again divided into two types called inter-departmental and infra departmental. Communication between the employees of the same department is called inter-departmental and communication between different departments of the organization is called intra-departmental.
