Factors to be considered for determining the quantities of stationeries to be ordered

The stationeries are to be bought in right quantity at right time because over-purchase of stationery is dangerous to the firms. For example, the purchase of carbons, inks in large quantity is dangerous because these are dried out when stored for a long period. The following factors are to be kept in mind while selecting the right quantity of stationery purchase.

(a) The usual consumption for a particular period is to be decided.

(b) The storage space available in the organisation will be given due importance.

(c) The amount of finance available should be taken into account before effecting purchase.

(d) The minimum and maximum level of stock level will be determined in advance.

(e) Maximum stock purchase should not be allowed due to the risks of obsolescence and deterioration in quality.
