Office means a place that is furnished with commonly found furniture and equipment and where people do some clerical work. The essential feature of office is that it is the work but not who does it and where it is done. Efficient office does not denote a few rooms where clerical operations are carried on. The office manager has to see the presence of other factors like proper lighting, ventilation, drinking water, recreational facilities, refreshment facilities and interior decoration.

The office atmosphere should be congenial because it affects the efficiency of the workers. It facilitates increased production and better qualitative products at low cost of production. An efficient office should give a better look to the above-mentioned factors. Efficient working of the office can be attained through elimination of excessive amount of paper work.
