5 important Benefits of Co-ordination in Business management
1. Unity amidst diversity:
Business comprises many diverse elements – multifarious products, several processes, large number of employees with different abilities, attitudes, reactions and co-ordination reconciles these differences and makes the elements conform to a common goal. Its achievements attain its maximum when co-ordination is most successful.
2. Balance among unequal:
The different elements of a .business organisation are not only diverse but unequal. Some men can work faster than others. Some machines are automated while some are hand-operated; or some may be more automated than others. Co-ordination strikes a mean between them so that no element is out of joint.
3. Total accomplishment:
In the words of Terry, within any group, coordination makes possible a total accomplishment in excess of the individual parts making up that total. The total accomplish of department X, consisting of ten employees whose efforts are closely co-ordinate, is far greater than that of the same ten employees working as individuals.
Co-ordination increases the effectiveness of an individual’s effort by synchronizing and interlocking them with those of others. It also prevents duplication and release energy for more creative purposes.
4. Peace and harmony:
A business runs well, makes good progress when there is understanding between labour and management. Co-ordination helps in bringing the two parties together, clarifying misunderstanding and establishing rapport. It is communication, a means of co-ordination that is most helpful in this regard.
5. Key to other functions:
Co-ordination holds the key to most other functions of management and gives them a meaning and reality. The master plan becomes an ineffective document if it does not represent the co-ordianted effort of different departments and sections.
Nothing but deadlock faces an organisation which does not provide the co-ordination of its parts. Control mechanism which is not co- ordained with the plan of action is no better than police action.
