The characteristics of Trygon are given below:
(1) Found usually laying on the sea bottom.
(2) Carnivorous and feeds on small fishes molluscas etc.
(3) Commonly known as string ray or whip tailed ray.

(5) Pectoral fins are united with the head.
(6) Mouth and 5 pairs of gill slits are ventral in position.
(7) Spiracles are present behind the eyes on dorsal side.
