Viruses are obligate parasites. They have living as well as non-living properties. They are like inert chemicals outside the living host. But they multiply actively inside the living host cells and produce their own types. They are composed of a core of nucleic acid surrounded by protein sheath. The nucleic acid may be DNA and RNA. They do not contain cytoplasm or organelles. The cause diseases in plants, animals and human beings.
