All chemical reactions require some initial input of energy to start the reaction. Similarly, all molecules require certain amount of energy for activation before the chemical reaction. This energy is called activation energy. Enzymes have the ability to reduce the activation energy of molecules and hence in the presence of an enzyme the substrate is converted into product with lesser input of energy of about 65%.
