What is the difference between Legume and Lomentum

Legume:

1. It is a dehiscent fruit.

2. Pericarp in this type of fruits dehisces along dorsal and ventral structures.

3. No mericarp is formed.

4. Seeds dispersed by dehiscence of pericarp.

Example: Pisum.

Lomentum:

1. It is a schizocarpic fruit.

2. This fruit breaks upon into a number of individual bits at constrictions.

3. Such bits are indehiscent and called mericarp.

Pericarp does never burst.Seeds liberate by decomposition of pericarp.

Example: Acacia.
