What is the difference between Bacteria and Virus?

Bacteria

1. Bacteria are covered by a cell wall made upon of polysaccharides, protein and lipids.

2. Cell membrane is present below the cell wall.

3. Cytoplasm is present.

4. DNA is the genetic material.

5. They synthesize their own protein.

6. They are living and exhibit growth and reproduction. They multiply in air, water, soil and in living host cells.

Virus

1. Viruses are covered by a sheath of protein called capsid.

2. No cell membrane is present.

3. Cytoplasm is absent.

4. DNA or RNA may be the genetic material.

5. They do not synthesize their own protein. They get their protein from host cell.

6. They exhibit the characters of both living and non-living and multiply only in living host.
