India’s most successful tennis player, Ramanathan Krishnan charmed Indian tennis lovers for about two decades. He was born on April 11, 1937 in Tamil Nadu.

His tennis talent startled Indians in 1953 when he won the National Championship at the young age of 16. He repeated his feat next year by winning Junior Wimbledon tide.

Since then he became a dominant Davis Cup player till 1968. Unfortunately, he could not win prestigious Grand Slam tournament nor help India to claim the coveted Davis Cup. He convincingly defeated great players like Rod Laver, Emeraon and Neil Fraser.
