One of the all time great batsmen in the world, Sachin Tendulkar was born on April 24, 1973 at Mumbai in Maharashtra. Since his childhood Sachin possessed an immense passion for cricket.

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar made his Test debut against arch rivals Pakistan at Karachi in the 1989-90 series under the leadership of K. Srikkanth. Since then he played 84 Tests uninterrupted till a toe injury forced Tendulkar to skip the tour of Sri Lanka. Now, after playing 105 Test matches, he has scored 8811 runs at a healthy average of 57.58, including 31 centuries and 35 half centuries.

A complete batsman, Tendulkar made his One-Day International debut against Pakistan in the 1989-90 series. Now, after playing 314 matches, he has already scored more than 12, 000 runs which include 35 centuries and 65 half centuries.

He was also the highest run getter in two World Cup matches of 1996 and 2003, respectively. In World Cup 2003, he received Man of the Tournament award from Sir Garfield Sobers.
