When a President is to be impeached for violation of the constitution, (Art. 61):

(a) motion to prefer a charge against the President for violating the constitution may be initiated in either house of Parliament.

(b) fourteen days notice of the intention to move the motion should have been given.

(c) The motion to prefer a charge should have support of at least 1/6th of the members.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

(d) The motion should be passed by a majority of not less than two-thirds of the total membership of the house.

(e) The house which passes the motion to prefer a charge against the President shall not be entitled to investigate the charge. The charge shall be investigated by the other house.

(f) The house after due investigation, if finds the President guilty should pass a resolution to that effect by a majority of 2/3rd of the total membership of the house. This resolution shall have the effect of removing the President from his office from the date on which resolution is passed.
