Tips

(i) Mark out the position on the floor.

(ii) For cement grouting put the necessary holes in the floor & erects the switch board in position.

(iii) Remove the switch Carriages from the housings & place housing in position of masod holes.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

(iv) See with the help of plumb line and level meter that all the units installed are vertical side; top and front of each unit are in line with the corresponding position of the adjacent units.

(v) Grout the bolts, and see that the unit should be flush with the floor.

(vi) Bus bar connection should be handled with care and precaution should be taken to ensure that insulation is not damaged during handling.

i. Be ensuring that the contact surfaces are clean.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

ii. Assemble the bus bars in bus bar chamber (up to 800 A continuous run length and for 1200 A or above current rating) bars are fitted with expansion joints (one joint after three or four),

(vii) Split type cable boxes are used with switch gears and switch boards. The cable connections with feeders can be carried out from front or back covers. The cable box should be placed in a position so that bending radius is minimized.

When the cables are connected directly to the bus-bars the cable box is mounted direct on the side of the unit.

All cable boxes should be filled to the specified level with compound after the connections have been made. A filling plug is provided for this purpose.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

(viii) Earthing Connections. A main earthing bar (strip) of convenient length is drilled for fixing to the back of the panel.

Precautions

(a) Before fixing the earthing bar in position is sure that all the contact surfaces are clean properly.

(b) Earth bar must not be painted at the joints.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

(c) An arrangement of stud is provided for clamping the unit earth bar to the main earth bar.

(d) Main earth bar is connected to the nearest reliable earth bar by a suitable copper strip of suitable size, (cross-sectioning area), which is at least equivalent to that of the main earth bar provided with the switch board.

(ix) Oil Filling. The oil for filling the circuit breaker and potential transformer should be tested according to the Indian standard before using

(a) Oil should be poured into the circuit breaker tank up to the level marked.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

(b) For Potential transformer remove silica gel, placed inside of the tank (for preventive moisture).

(c) The transformer winding of Potential transformer must be dried out before filling with oil.

(d) Pour slowly oil up to 25 mm above the top of the core. Allow time for air bubbles also.
