The flowers of Orchidaceae are perfect, zygomorphic, and resupinate (upside down). There are 3 sepals and 3 petals – one petal is modified into a lip (labellum). The stamens and stigmas/style are adnate to form a column. Usually there is only 1 anther, the pollen is in pollinia, and there is a viscidulum (sticky gland) that aids in transfer of pollen.

Almost all orchids are pollinated by insects. Part of the stigma is modified into a rostellum. The gynoecium is syncarpous of 3 carpels, the ovary is inferior, and there are multitudinous ovules.
