Official Gingerbread 2.3.4 Arabic update has been released for Pakistan and United Arab Emirates users for the Galaxy SL I9003, while the US and European users are still waiting for the release.
But they do not need to wait more because of the launch of the MIUI Custom ROM which has completed tests on Galaxy SL devices. MIUI is a Chinese customized version of the Android OS, with additional feature added from devices and softwares along with iPhone looks.

Reminders before the update:
I. Applying the firmware update can cause saved data to be wiped out from your device. So it is advised that you backup all your data including calls, call log, messages and personal files. SMS or MMS messages can be backed up by using the SMS Backup + by Jan Berkel app, Android Cloud for contacts and calander backup and Astro File Manager for Market apps and SD card.
II. Make sure that the battery has 70% charge remaining before doing the update.
III. Disable security features such as firewall or antivirus software as this may sometime interrupt the update process.

IV. Follow the path “Settings> Applications> Development> USB debugging” to enable USB debugging feature on your device before the update.
Instructions on Galaxy SL I9003 with 2.3.16 MIUI custom ROM firmware update:
Step 1:
Download the files MIUI v10 2.3.16 Firmware Zip package, Bravia Engine, Sony XCloud, Swat to SD and Beats Audio to your computer.
Step 2:

Connect your device to PC with your USB data cable.
Step 3:
Copy the downloaded files to your SD card.
Step 4:

Now disconnect the device from PC.
Step 5:
Hold the Volume Down Key and OK button together to enter into recovery mode in your phone.
Step 6:

Select “install zip from sd card” and “choose zip from sd card” from your sd card and select the downloaded files. The update will now start.
Step 7:
After the procedure finishes, recovery menu opens again. Now select “+++go back+++” and reboot system now”.
