I. Make a backup of all your data stored in your phone as there are chances of losing them after the update. You can use “SMS Backup & Restore app” for SMS backups, Sync with the “Gmail application” to save your contacts, “Call Log And Restore” can be used to backup your Call Log, Copying your images, songs and other files to the external drive can help and finally follow the path “Applications> Settings>  Wireless and Network> Mobile Networks> Access Point Names” to copy the APN and MMS settings.​

II. Make sure that the battery has 70% charge remaining before doing the update.

III. Follow the path “Settings> Applications> Development> USB debugging” to enable USB debugging feature on your device before the update.

IV. Disable security features such as firewall or antivirus software in your computer as this may sometime  interrupt the update process.

Instructions to enable NFC in Galaxy Note I717:

Step 1 – Download the NFC Enable Script in your computer. Connect your device to the computer and copy this script in your device. Make sure that you are placing the file deep into your device.

Step 2 – Reboot you device in the recovery mode or in the Clock Work MOD recovery it it’s installed in your phone. Now hold the Volume Up button and the Home key button together to enter into recovery mode. Also turn ON your device while holding these buttons.

Step 3 – When the phone is in recovery mode, select Wipe data/ factory reset and Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting the reboot system now with the help of Volume rocker keys.

Step 4 – Now select the option “install zip from sd card” or “choose zip from sd card” depending on the options and then select the script zip file which you have saved in your phone.

Step 5 – Once the process gets completed, the phone will again enter into recovery mode screen. Now select the “reboot system now” option in the recovery mode screen and reboot your phone.
