Suzanne Britt was afraid of thin people, just as the great Roman emperor Julius Caesar was. For them, thin people need constant watching. They come in all personalities. There are ‘together’ thin person, mechanical thin person, condescending thin person, efficiency-expert thin persons. One thing common about them all is that they are all menacing. They are all dangerous.

Thin people are not fun. They are very careful people. They never commit a silly mistake. They cannot sit idle. So Brett says, “Give them a coffee break, and they’ll jog around the block. Supply them with a quiet evening at home, and they fix the screen door. They say things like “there aren’t enough hours in the day”. But fat people are different. A day is too long for them.

Brett gets tired of thin people. Their metabolism keeps them active. They always search for a new problem. They can’t sit idle. She enjoys being in the company of sluggish, inert, easy going fat people. She likes them who think that if you clean it up today, it’ll just get dirty again tomorrow.

Fat persons have incurred the defame of being sad. But the other contradicts this view. Fat people may not look amused all day but they are a lot nicer than the wizered and shrived. This people turn mean, surly and hard at a young age as they don’t know how to ease tension with a hot fudge Sundae. Thin people don’t like sticky, soft sweet things because they themselves are neither soft nor sweet. Thin people are crunchy and dull like carrots. Thin people cannot accept things. They want to explore. They want to know. They dissect everything to reach at the heart of things. Fat people let things main as blurry, hazy and vague as they are. Thin people want to face the truth. Fat people know that there is no truth. Thin people try to find out the key of the things. Fat people know that there is not anything as the key things.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

Thin people are logical. Fat people accept the thing in its totality. So they never get worried about anything. Thin people formulate a set of regulation. They lead a restricted and principles life. They have laws regarding diet. Eat less or you will gain weight. For fat people life is logical and unfair. They know that God is not in heaven and nothing is right in the world. If God is in heaven then they will not be debarred from enjoying any kind of food and drink. Thin people have a long list of logical things to guide life-“Cigarette kills”, “Cholesterol clogs” etc. fat people don’t restrict life. They know that happiness is elusive. Fat people know that all these principles made to make life happier and dull, too hard, too off the mark, and never better than a whole cheesecake.

Fat people accept life as it is. They never trouble them with the mysteries of the world. They know how to enjoy their time in company. Once three fat persons and one thin person sat to play jigsaw puzzle. The essayist was once of them. The thin person said that they should arrange all the parts of the jigsaw puzzle into groups according to size, shape and color. He figured that would have 50 percent time. The writer did not agree. The reasons; first she liked to muddle through.

Second, she did not want to finish it early. Third, the jigsaw problem was not important thing. The important thing was the fun of four people sitting around a card table, working a jigsaw puzzle. The thin person, instead of joining the fat ones in solving jigsaw went out to much boxwood in the garden. The three fat persons solved the puzzle and celebrated it with chocolate and double-fudged brownies.

The main problem of thin people is that they never feel comfortable. They live with good intentions. They dressed with care. They make secret and clever plans with their brains. But fat people are loose, comfortable and relaxed people. Fat people laugh heartily, slapping their things. Thin people wait calmly for the punch line.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

Thin people are downers. They like math and morality. They make reasoned evaluation of the limitations of human beings. They expound prognoses, probe and prick. Fat people are different. They are convivial. They are sympathetic. They are friendly warm, loving and accepting.
