The camel can travel a long distance of thirty miles or more, even through the desert, carrying men and load at a stretch without any break or without feeling hungry or thirsty. It is very obedient, and well known for its patience and endurance. It is, therefore’ called the beast of burden.

The camel’s feet are shod with pads for easy walking on the hot sand of the desert. The Arabs regard the camel as a sacred animal and take good care of it.

Men in desert drink its milk and eat its flesh in emergency. After its death, its thick leather extracted from skin is used for making brushes and its bones for making combs and other useful articles.
