Mukesh Kumar is a veteran hockey player. He was born on April 16, 1970 in Hyderabad. He has played over 300 internationals. He is one of the most feared forwards in the world of hockey. He is renowned for his speed and ball control.

In the domestic circuit he plays for Indian Airlines. He made his international debut in the 1989 Asia Cup. His career peaked at Poznar Inter-Continental in 1993, where he was declared the Player of the tournament.

He has played for India at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 and in Atlanta Olympics in 1996. He also played in the World Cup in 1994 and 1998. He has played in Asian Games in 1994 and 1998.

Mukesh Kumar was the member of the Indian hockey team which stood third in the 2001 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.
