J aspal Rana is a talented and promising shooter of India. He has won many medals for India. His father, Narayan Singh Rana, is a minister in the Uttaranchal government.

Jaspal was interested in shooting right from his childhood. In 1994, he came into limelight when he became World Junior Champion in the centre-fire pistol event. He won a gold and silver medal at the International Shooting Tournament held in North Korea in 1993.

In 1994, he won the gold medal and created a World Record at the World Shooting Championship in Italy. In the same year, he won two gold and one bronze at the Commonwealth Games held in Canada.

He created a new Asian Games record at the 12th Asian Games in Hiroshima. His brilliant performance continued in the next year, when he won one gold and three bronze medals at the Asian Shooting Championships in Indonesia. Great performances are expected from this bright shooting star of the nation.
