Teaching in school is a multi-faced work and includes several other aspects such as time-table, conduct of examinations, teacher’s diary and lesson planning, parents and teachers association, science, laboratories etc. These activities are very important. It all needs serious dunking and planning. These activities should be children-centred which mean the welfare of the children’s and focus of these activities always remains on the child. The teachers, parents and the Principal or the management must take logical decisions.

The schools divide their teaching work for the whole of the year. This means a calendar is prepared for all the activities. March-April-March is die common practice in the schools. New session starts from April and ends in March. It also includes die vacations, breaks, examination date, result and admission in the school. Some school have January to December and New-Year starts from January. It rather depends on the boards instructions which conduct final examination of 10tii+l 2th standard. Affixed working days and holidays have a fixed proportion.

Time-table is very important in the teaching in school. It needs very hard-working because the whole of the school is run as per the time-table. There are certain principles and rules to be followed by the school while making the time-table. Generally schools have 5-6 hours teaching period in the day which is further divided in 1 -8 period’s of40-45 minutes each and break for lunch and rest of the students. Difficult subjects have been taught first and the last time is used in easy subject.

There are several advantages for making the time­table. It is necessary’ for smooth running of the school. It also ensures that all the subjects are being taught to the students. Teachers also get rest after teaching some periods. Time-table is given to all the classes and teachers and they move as per their time-table. Without time-table nobody is beneficial. Time-table indicates the manners in which subjects are being taught or where the teachers aim which class is being taught. Time­table should be pliable.

Time-table is of different kinds, ft can be made for a short-period or long-period as per the requirement of the school. A permanent time-table for whole of the school or a temporary time-table which can be amended if the requirement of change is desirable special time­table is made for the primary, secondary or senior secondary class. Extra classes have also to be mentioned in the time-table. Primary section has one man time­table.

Time-table is very important as such it needs care and some precautions are to be taken while preparing the time-table. Such as difficult subjects should be put in the beginning of the school so that both the teachers and the students understand the subject well. If difficult subjects are put in the last they would interest. Teacher should also be given rest after teaching difficult subject in the class. Besides, teachers should be consulted before the time-table is prepared.

Examinations are the essential part of the teaching as they tell the students where they stand. They also show die teachers at what extend they took the pains in teaching. Examinations should be conducted in well developed and organised manner. The scheme and date- sheet also need deep attention. Some time should be given for the preparation of the exams.

Teachers play an important role during the examinations. There should be strict vigilance and no copying or books are allowed in examination room. Examination should be conducted by fair means. A date-sheet for the students should be given well in advance, so that students can prepare themselves. Besides, teachers also do justice to the students while checking their answer-sheets and proper marking is expected from the teachers. Teacher also should not favour their students on any ground.

In a democratic set up, schools also play an important role. The administration of the school is a part of education where cooperation of the parents is necessary. As such, a parent-teacher association is set up in the school. It has elected office- bearers such as chairman, secretary, executives etc. The association looks after the school administration and management.

It is a combined effort to improve the image of the school. The association is organised every year.

Parents-teacher association has its meetings that are conducted from time to time. These meetings are attended both by the teachers and the parents. An agenda is given and discussed in the meeting. The Principal of the school also attend the meeting. Parents also contribute with school-teaching faculty and look after the studies of the students. Letters are also written to the department or the management to improve the atmosphere or to provide teachers to the school.
