The news the grapevine carrier consists at times of factual information, but mostly it carriers inaccurate information, half-truths, rumors private interpretations, suspicions, and all kinds of distorted information. It carriers information not only like the formal communication channels, in three directions, namely, up, down, and across the organisation, but also in an unpredictable, flexible, meandering pattern not visible on the organisation chart. It is active all day long and is a part of the organizational life. It disseminates information with amazing speed and often faster than most official channels could.
