Useful notes on Rail Wagons & Coaches (India)

These are manufactured by the following concerns:

1. HSL

2. TISCO

3. IISCO

Wagon:

(i) Integral Coach Factory, Perambur (Chennai) was set up in 1985 with the help of Swiss Government.

(ii) Railway Coach Factory, Kapurthala (Punjab). It was started in 1988.

(iii) M/s Jessops, Kolkata and Bharat Earth Movers Ltd. (BEML), Bangalore also j manufacture rail coaches.

(iv) Yelahanka near Bangalore is known for manufacturing wheel and axle etc. for the railways. This factory started functioning in 1984.

(v) Diesel Component Works, Patiala (DCW) manufactures and repairs diesel locomotives.

(vi) TEXMACO Kolkata and Braithwaite Co. (India) Ltd., Kolkata are also engaged in manufacturing various locomotive components required by the Indian Railways.
