An integrated policy for self-reliance in oilseeds was also formulated on the basis of the success story of Green Revolution and was approved by the Government. Its objective was to harmonies the interest of farmers, consumers and processing industry with the economy as a whole.

To provide incentives to oilseeds growers to adopt improved technology and increase production.

Special measures to be taken for transfer and demonstration of technology and supply of inputs.

The National Dairy Development Board was commissioned to operate a market intervention scheme to buy seeds and oil of groundnut and mustard soon after the harvest at a wholesale price which ensures incentive prices for the farmers. The oil so procured is sold in the lean season for moderating prices of the consumers. A price band was also stipulated which was fair and just both to farmers and the consumers.

An empowered committee of Secretaries to monitors the implementation of the integrated policy.
