Traditional Curriculum means Subject-Centred Curriculum. It lays more emphasis on subject in comparison to children. Since it gives emphasis on pedantry, it is also known as Book-Centred Curriculum. It ignores altogether the personal and social development of the child. Stress is given only on intellectual development.

It is prescribed for the child without much regard to his interest a point of view. Such curriculum is backed by the Authority of the teacher, who is backed by the Authority of the centuries. A child has to learn the subjects of the time honoured divisions one by one. He has to learn the fact and skills one at a time. Such knowledge, he has to store in memory till he is asked to bring it forth either on the demand of examination or an interview for a white-collar job.
