(A) Force:

An agent which produces or tends to produce, destroy or tends to destroy motion

The unit of force is –

(i) Newton in S.I. units. The force required to give a mass of 1 Kg. an acceleration of one meter per second per second.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

(ii) Dyne in C.G.S. unit. The force required to give a mass of 1 Kg. an acceleration of one meter per second per second.

(B) Work:

Whenever a force acts on a body & the body undergoes a displacement in the direction of the force then work is said to be done. Force x distance moved. Unit of work is Joule (1 m Newton) = Potential difference x current x time.

(C) Power:

ADVERTISEMENTS:

The unit of electric power is watt.

One watt power is expanded when one Joule of work is done in one second.

(D) Energy:

Total amount of work done in a given time is called the ENERGY. Its unit is watt sec.
