The Chola artists were mighty builders. They used to construct huge structures and decorated them with minute sculpture Another important characteristic of the Chola art was the construction of Garbhagriha or the holy place within the tempi complex.

The best known specimens of the Chola architecture are the Rajrajes architecture are the Rajarajeswar temple at Tanjore built by the Chola king Rajaraja I and the Mahavishnu temple of Chengleput built by Rajendra Chola (also known as Gongaikonda Chola).

The Chola sculptors also excelled in carving out images in bronze.
