7 important steps involved in the application of scientific method in management:

There are seven important steps involved in the application of scientific method in management.

1. Identifying the proposition:

This step states precisely the objectives and the investigation is directed to the achievement of a specified goal.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

2. Preliminary examination of the proposition:

This step is concerned with the preliminary examination of the propositions on the basis of information and data as available from past experience.

3. Stating tentative solutions to the proposition:

With the help of the information and data as obtained in step (2) and adding his personnel observation, thinking, and ideas, the scientific man, hypothetically states tentative solutions to the proposition, to he accepted or rejected after controlled experimentation.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

4. Thoroughly investigating the proposition:

With the information and data of past experiences as the scientific man already possesses and the information he has collected from his controlled experimental thinking as in step (3), he is better equipped to apply his mind to a thorough examination of the proposition in its various aspects.

5. Classifying the data obtained:

By now the scientific man has accumulated with him quite a good volume of data for the efficient handling of this data classification is done through proper means.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

6. Stating tentative answer to the proposition:

Now the stage has come when the scientific man’s efforts will be directed to find a tentative answer to the proposition. This is to be done by him through a careful and intelligent interpretation of the classified data as available with him through the inductive and deductive reasoning and methods.

7. Stating answer to the proposition after adjustment:

This is the stage when the scientific man is seized of the proposition. After marking necessary adjustments as a result of the interpreted data findings the scientific man is now ready with the answer to the given proposition and he delivers the answer.
