Dear Daddy,

I am back from the Trekking expedition to Goa and am in fine spirits. I am giving an account of it in this letter.

Vishwanathan, my school mate, and I reported at the Base Camp, Panaji well in time. There were some students from Delhi, Bangalore and Manipur also. Soon we became good friends. The second day passed in orientation. On the third day, the party went to Kadamba bu bus and to Dhudhsagar by trekking. The fourth day passed in trekking to Kuveshi and fifth day from Kuveshi to Devil’s Canyon. The scenes of Dhudhsagar were breathtaking. The fall of the water from such a height looked superb. On the sixth day we reached Dargem, 14 km from Devil’s Canyon and from there to Caranzol, a trek of 16 km. we took rest the next day in the Camp. Ashutosh and Tseng Singh regaled us with folk songs, dances and tit-bits.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

The next day we trekked to Sntrem, 21 km from Caranzol. Surla Ghat is a trek of 18 km from Santrem. From Surla Ghat via Tanem, we covered 25 km to reach Keri via Vageri hills. It was, in fact, arduous. However, the panorama of hills, refreshing waterfalls and virgin landscapes kept us refreshed. The groves of palm trees and wildlife sanctuaries provided a feast to the eyes and heart. The total trek had a distance of 70 km by train and 72 km by coach. Thus the experience had a mixture of both trekking and travelling. We reached the Base Camp for a Valedictory Function as fixed b the Trekking Instructor. We finally checked out on the thirteenth day.

My regards to dear mother and love to Binni.

Your loving son
