Dear Sir

Sub: Increase in swindling

There seems to be an increase in the number of swindlers around the city cheating the people. Last week, I, with my daughter, went to a dentist. When we came out of the clinic, it had started raining hard, we had no umbrella. As we were waiting for a taxi, we began to get wet. Just then, an old man dressed like a rich man came to us to sell his silken umbrella worth Rs. 100 for merely Rs. 50. He told that he had forgotten his purse. He needed that much money for hiring a taxi to take him home. After satisfying myself about the veracity, I got the umbrella.

However, after a while, I and my daughter saw the man not calling a taxi but entering a pub. We saw that he ordered a costly drink and gulped it down his throat in one draught. While taking his coat and hat from the rack he lifted someone’s umbrella casually. On coming out in the street, we saw him swindling another man. This shocked us very much.

I would like to draw the attention of the public to beware of such gentlemanly and rich looking crooks. The police should arrest such persons.

Yours faithfully,
