They eyes are said to be the windows of the body and very important organs. Hence particular attention should be paid on the cleanliness of the eyes. It is through them that we see this beautiful world. Information regarding the objects that we see immediately reaches the mind.

Sometimes, we feel headache, fatigue, lack of interest, backwardness, disinclination and mental disturbances etc. when defects appear in our vision. This shows how vital eyes are for us and how important it is to protect them against injury, defects and disease.

One should have elementary knowledge about their struc­ture and functions, so as to be extra vigilant in protecting them.

1. Eyes should be washed twice everyday with cold and clean water and clean hands. While doing so eyes should be closed and so that water should get into them. Inside, the eye is self-protected.

2. Use rose water during summer if eyes get red.

3. Have eye exercise, preferably in the morning.

4. Do not use dirty hands and kerchief. Use an eye pot to clean the eyes. Water solution of trifle powder is useful for washing the eyes.

5. Do not over burden your eyes lest they are tired. If tired, rest your eyes for some time.

6. Immediately consult a doctor, preferably an eye-specialist in case of uneasiness, blurring etc. Use spectacles on the advice of a doctor.

7. Use boric powder mixed in water in case of any pain in the eyes.
