In fact, it was in terms of principle and method of political work that the Moderates and the Extremists differed.

As a matter of principle the Moderates had faith in the British government and wanted to place to them the just demands of the Indians.

But the Extremists were opposed to it and wanted to fulfil the demands from the English on the basis of their own rights.

The Moderates used to adopt resolutions and looked for when this would be implemented by the British government. On the other hand, the Extremists believed in vigorous political action and methods than those of meetings and resolutions.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

As regards the method of political work there was a gulf of difference. At the time of the anti-Partition agitation the Moderates were in favour of the restricted use of boycott.

But the Extremists were in favour of making boycott all pervasive.
