It was on the strength of the central bureaucratic administration that the Mughal Empire could survive for about 200 years. The first important agency that made effective the central administration throughout the realm was the institution of mansabdars.

Another instrument that made affective the central administration was the administrative division like provinces (subahs). The third agency that contributed to the centralized form of administration was the Todarmal’s revenue arrangement. This arrangement was in force in most part of the empire.

Another important agency of the Mughal centralized administration was the system of judicial courts established in towns and important cities. Thus it may be said that under the Mughals a well-organized central administration existed in the country.
